The North Aisle Project
|Utilisation and development of the North Aisle had been discussed by the Church Council for a considerable time. Provision of a toilet and a more convenient arrangement for making tea and coffee after services have been the prime concern.
The original scheme was to provide an additional first floor room, but this was considered beyond the means of the Parish at the time. It was decided to explore some draft ideas that would bring the North Aisle into use and form the basis of further development. Eventually agreement was reached and an Architect was asked to prepare a submission for the required Diocesan Faculty.
Finally, approval was granted and work began. This first phase of the development provides both a disabled toilet and access ramp to the North Aisle door, together with a small kitchen and additional storage space.
The first phase of the development scheme cost around £30,000.
